Deputy Chief Johnson has an impressive 26-year career with the Huntsville Police Department, during which he spent eight years working in patrol and several years as a Field Training Officer. He has also served in the DUI Unit, Criminal Investigations, Supervision, and PIO. Apart from his professional achievements, he is also Vice-President of Big Brothers Big Sisters of The TN Valley and serves on the board of Crisis Services of North Alabama. With a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Athens State University, M.S. of Justice and Public Safety from the University of Auburn Montgomery, and a J.D. from the Birmingham School of Law, he is a well-rounded individual with a wealth of knowledge to share. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy Class #283 of 2022.

Michael is married to Betina Johnson who is a Division Chief for the Army Corps of Engineers. They have 3 grown children and 1 grandchild.
