🌟 Big Day of Service – June 6th! 🌟

Our annual Big Day of Service is happening on Friday, June 6th, and we’re excited to roll up our sleeves and make a difference! This is the perfect opportunity to gather your alumni class members and spend the day giving back to our community. 

After reviewing the projects below, you can make your selection on the registration page. An email reminder will be sent with the project information to all participants. 

Nonprofit Projects this year:

• Christmas Charities Year Round 
  • They need help moving! There are two shifts to chose from: 9am-11am or 11am-1pm. 
  • Address: 3054 Leeman Ferry Road suite P Huntsville, AL 35801. 
  • Just bring yourself, water, and dress appropriately. (need to wear closed-toe shoes, it will be hot)
     
• The Caring Link 
  • Address: 14155 Hwy 231 431 Hazel Green, AL 35750. Shift time is 9am-11am. 
  • They need helping prepackaging socks and underwear by size for their New Beginnings School Readiness Program and clothing distribution (serving 400+ students)
    
    
• UCP Huntsville
  • Address: 2075 Max Luther Drive, Huntsville, AL 35810. Morning shift: 9am-12pm 
  • Attire: wear closed-toe shoes and clothing appropriate for yard work. Also bring any gardening/outdoor maintenance supplies. 
  • Job description: Accessible Nature Trail maintenance for individuals with disabilities or aging conditions to have a safe place to exercise and possibly receive mental health services outdoors for mindfulness and motor-based therapies.
    
    
• Fantasy Playhouse
  • Address: 3312 Long Ave SW Morning shift: 9am-11am. Lunch shift: 11am-1pm 
  • Wear comfortable clothes, leadership t-shirts, and bring a large vehicle if you don't mind transporting things a short distance. 
  • Job description: We will need help with relocating from our current offices on Long Avenue to our newly renovated home at 3320 Triana (approx 1/2 mile away). Depending on our progress, this could mean packing boxes, relocating costume storage, organizing spaces, hanging pictures, or even running donations to the neighborhood thrift store.
    
    
• Sleep in Heavenly Peace
  • Address: 6000 Technology Drive, Unit # 7, Huntsville, AL 35805. Morning shift: 9am-12pm 
  • Just bring yourself and dress appropriately. (need to wear closed toe shoes, bring work gloves)
  • Description: Sleep in Heavenly Peace builds beds for kids age 3-17 who don’t have beds of their own. We then deliver to those kids who need a bed. We set up the beds and make them up, usually with “help” from the recipients. Come and help us get these kiddos off the floor and into their own beds! #nokidsleepsonthefloorinourtown Participants will need their own transportation from the warehouse to the delivery homes.
    
    
• The Arc of Madison County
  • Address: 1100 Washington Street, Hsv 35801. Lunch shift 11am-1pm.
  • Just bring yourself and tools such as screwdrivers and hammer to assemble furniture.
  • Description: We are moving into our renovated building within a couple weeks and need furniture assembled, front curb painted yellow.
