More about Chairman Vaughn:
Rex Vaughn was appointed Chairman of the Madison County Commission by Governor Kay Ivey on March 1, 2026. A lifelong resident of Madison County, he and his late wife, Kim, raised four children and are the proud grandparents of five grandchildren.
Vaughn owns and operates Vaughn Farms, a cattle and row crop operation. Throughout his career, he has been a dedicated advocate for Alabama agriculture, serving eight years on the Alabama State Farmers Market Board, 13 years as President of the Madison County Farmers Federation, and in multiple leadership roles with the Alfa/Alabama Farmers Federation. Most recently, he served as Vice President, representing 16 counties across North Alabama.
Committed to public service, Vaughn has held numerous leadership positions that have strengthened communities across the state. He served on the Governor’s Tornado Recovery Action Council, helping guide recovery efforts following the devastating 2011 tornadoes. He also served nine years on the Madison County Judicial Commission and was an original member of the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission, where he served as Chairman for more than three years. Today, he continues his community involvement as a member of the Huntsville Rotary Club, the Madison County Farmers Federation Executive Committee, and the Madison County Sheriff's Department Chaplaincy Program.
After graduating from Sparkman High School, Vaughn earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in agriculture from Auburn University.
As Chairman of the Madison County Commission, Vaughn is committed to enhancing the quality of life for all residents. His priorities include strengthening public safety, improving transportation and infrastructure, and fostering economic development to support the continued growth and prosperity of Alabama's fastest-growing region.
